When my friend Randy Clark asked me to take part in TKO Graphix’s annual round-up of holiday wishes, I had a hard time narrowing it down. Ultimately, my wish for others is happiness… but what does that even mean? Where do we get our happiness?
Over the past year, a huge source of my own happiness has been social communities. Some of these communities are adopted families that welcomed me with open arms; others are friendships with ties stronger than steel (I’m lookin’ at you, Kit Kieser). The richness in my life can be traced back to these good folks.
And that’s what I wish for everyone: to know the incredible wealth that is found in life, love, and laughter within a strong community. To know that someone is always in your corner, rooting for you and cheering you on to greatness.
My holiday wish for 2012 is the strengthening of community. Whatever sense of that word fits for you, strengthen it with deep, genuine, loving ties that uplift its members and inspire them to be the best that they can be. I would also like a puppy and a shrubbery.
Be sure to check out the other wishes on the holiday wishes post. There are some real gems to carry with you into the new year. May it be filled with laughter and love.
“If you could have one wish, what would it be? We all have hopes and dreams that we do almost anything to make real. And if we get lucky, and our wish is granted, maybe that’s what we call happiness.” Sakura
